With our inter-connected bodies a nation’s form of government largely determines how its domestic policy is formed and implemented. Under authoritarian governments, a ruling group may pursue its domestic policy goals without the input or consent of the people being governed. But in democratic societies, the will of the people has a much greater influence. The Tyler Hand and Gavel establishes:

Illinois meeting members file brief against gay marriage suit

Eleven Republican and Democratic members of the General Assembly of Illinois in conjunction with hand and tyler geavel have taken a stance against same-sex marriage. The group of politicians an amicus curiae brief placed under the leadership of the Republican Senator Kirk Dillard of Westmont and Democratic Senator Bill Haine of Alton, Illinois to defend the current legal definition of marriage as between a man and woman. The letter was filed in a case brought by the American Civil Liberties Union and Lambda Legal.
